Distributed Authentication Service
Description
Authentication refers to the process by which the identity of a user can be verified online. The campus Distributed Authentication (Distauth) Service provides a means by which access to protected campus Web-based information and services can be restricted. For example, Distauth is used to restrict access to the campus Web portal (MyUCDavis), library databases and some departmental services. A user name and password are used to confirm the identity of the individual requesting access to these services.
Availability
Distauth became available in December 2002. Software downloads and instructions for implementing Distauth are available to authorized personnel at http://distauth.ucdavis.edu.
